DLV 2007 Suggestions

HI Julietta:

You mention that there should be a data base of those living in Las
Vegas who can be there to help in advance of the DLV. Staying at the
homes of these volunteers will not work as we do have lives besides the
DLV, with friends and neighbors not knowing of our dressing. But coming
in prior to the DLV and getting acquainted with others and testing the
waters so to speak is a good idea and one that can work.

Those of us in Las Vegas always welcome visitors and like to meet when
ever they are planning on being here. Throughout the year we receive
inquiries from visitors and always offer assistance that may be needed.

However, I must mention that in your case specifically, you did ask for
help prior to the Diva Las Vegas. I responded to your letter as did at
least two others who live here in Las Vegas offering any help that you
needed. You failed to respond to any of these offers to help. You
requested a BIG Sister and when the Big Sister wrote to you, you also
failed to reply.

Those of us who are involved in the Diva Las Vegas pride ourselves on
the help given to those that ask for it but to get help the person who
needs it must communicate with those offering it. On several occasions I
wrote to you asking if there was a problem and how could we help. I did
not receive a response.

I do hope that you will be able to attend DLV 2007 and participate in
the events. Any help that you may need will be provided but you must be
willing to communicate.

Hello Julieta,

I think I also sent this to you back then...

For those newbies or people who are first coming out, or have never come
out in female mode, you can attend DLV is male mode if you want to.
DLV provides the opportunity to go to in female mode to activities and
events, but being in female mode isn't a requirement. The main thing is
to have fun and meet others.

Many new to coming out, begin by going to DLV in male mode to get to
meet other attendees that are at DLV and develop friendships. This helps
in the process of checking out the venues and other attendees that
attend DLV. Doing this can ease the fears of getting ready to take the
next step, as in going out in female mode.

Many experienced attendees also at times goes in male mode for other
other reasons during DLV... such as to rest from going in female mode,
or not having enough time to get ready or just not mentally prepared to
go out in female mode.

Again, you should come to DLV and attend and have fun ... even in male
mode if the fear of going in female mode is too much for you.

But you have to do your part also, as Nora mentioned, you have to
communicate back.

Hola Julietta: First, congratulations on your command of the English
language - your Ingles is so much better than my Espanol. Second, have
you considered attending Southern Comfort Conference in Atlanta, Georgia,
USA which runs from Tuesday 19 Sep through Sunday 24 Sep 2006. The get
started Email address is "info@sccatl.org". Southern Comfort is
different from DLV in that several hundred Tgirls are concentrated in one
hotel in downtown Atlanta. Essentially it becomes a Tgirl hotel for the
five day period, where we are now the majority. We go out to eat, go out
to shop, go to clubs, etc. in large numbers so that a beginning Tgirl
does not feel alone or awkward. There are seminars on how to do make-up,
posture, blending in, and so on. They also have a Big Sister program.
This is a great experience for a newcomer and will provide much
confidence for DLV next spring. I hope to see you there. Vaya con Dios.

HI Julieta

I also felt badly when you did not respond to the letters sent to you.
Not because I felt that you were ignoring me but because I sensed that
you really wanted to meet others and take an active part in the Diva
Las Vegas. I sensed that you were afraid to respond as so often happens
with those who reach out for the first time. You were clear in your
desire to meet others but you never responded to the letters sent to
you.

Staying at the New York New York for someone that wants to go out
dressed and has not done so before is not a good idea. What you should
have done is much like you mention in your letter. Finding a motel or an
apartment where you can stay for a short period have direct access to
your car from your room without having to walk any distance will make
your initial outings much simpler and less nerve wracking.

When you decide to return to Las Vegas please contact me directly
(cadnild@aol.com). If you return before next years Diva Las Vegas I am
sure that we can raise your comfort level and you will be prepared for
the event.

Dear Nora:

I feel terrible about the communication, seems that for some reason I
did not receive such letters. I did stay at the New York New York hotel
but never received any massages I feel terrible and please accept my
sincere apologies to all of you. I want to tell you that I very much
appreciate your time and attention given to me with this letter.

My idea is instead of staying at a hotel, maybe you know of one of those
apartments that have hotel service and can be rented by week; and a
group of big and new sisters could share.
